The Department of Labor releases all of the annual 5500 filings each year. One of the databases we subscribe to that has compiled all of the 5500 filings and we filter the database for certain plans which meets certain criteria warranting a review.

 

You certainly can do that. However, there are several good reasons to periodically have a review performed by an independent third party.

If we have contacted you it may be because we have found that your plan has a substandard Performance Score and or Red Flags associated with your most recently 5500 filing that your current advisor may have overlooked.  If your current advisor has not given proper attention to the things we found, it may be prudent to get an opinion from an independent third party.

If your plan is audited by the DOL, having a review in your file performed by an independent third party shows you are doing your due diligence to assess excessive fees, proper investment choices and several other compliance issues that may otherwise cause personal financial liability to the plan sponsors and fiduciaries.

We may uncover options and benefits available to you that your current advisor has not brought to your attention or may themselves be unaware of.

Yes! Should you participate in the review process, we will provide written reports regarding all of our findings and suggestions. You will be able to share them with your current service provider if you choose to do so.

Step 1. A 30 minute personal face to face meeting is conducted at your place of business at which time the 6 page Performance Score Report is presented and reviewed with the plan sponsor or administrator.  This will reveal details regarding the Performance Score, the Dalbar Success Score, and particular Red Flags that are evident from the last 5500 filing.  An explanation of what documents are needed for a comprehensive review can be discussed at this time.
